Francaletta in foal to champion sire

Francaletta (Michael Coleman) winning the Gr.3 Taranaki Breeders Stakes at Hawera.

Smart mare Francaletta has begun the next chapter in her life after proving a successful member of the Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman team.

Francaletta has tested in foal to the champion sire Savabeel and is now part of Lib Petagna’s broodmare band at Blandford Lodge.

The daughter of High Chaparral won six races from 14 starts, but never really got the opportunity to realise her true potential.

She was unbeaten in her first four starts and her best win came in last year’s Gr.3 Rich Hill Stud Taranaki Breeders Stakes (1400m) at Hawera.

She followed up with a close second in the Gr.2 NRM Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (1400m) at Pukekohe and was then taken to Sydney, where she ran third first-up to Dixie Blossoms in the Gr.2 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.

Her three-race campaign this season began with an encouraging fourth to Melody Belle in the Gr.2 Lisa Chittick Foxbridge Plate (1200m) at Te Rapa and her last appearance was when eighth in the Gr.1 Windsor Park Plate (1600m) at Hastings.
