Track Work 22 November 2018

Stablemates from the powerful Baker/Forsman team LOVE AFFAIR, NICOLETTA and YOUR WAY produced an outstanding final gallop ahead of this weekend’s Dunstan Feeds Auckland Thoroughbred Breeder’s Stakes. Galloping on a dead course proper, they completed the 1000 metre hit out in 1.04, rounding out the final 600 in 36.1.

The track at Pukekohe is currently rated a dead 6 and if that remains LOVE AFFAIR looks a great each way chance.

MONGOLIAN MARSHAL and MAYGROVE were sent 1400 also on the course proper, going 1.36, home in a tidy 37.6. They both contest the Ssangyong Counties Cup which has attracted a strong field. EXCALIBUR followed them in, going 1200 in 1.21, and 38.5.

TERRA SANCTA worked alone also on the course proper and looked to be doing it nicely, rounding off 1000 in 1.07 and 38.5.

BOSTONIAN, who was last to complete a course proper gallop this morning, went 800 in 53 and 37.3. He starts his build up towards the Railway Stakes with a fresh up run in the Haunui Farm Counties Bowl this Saturday and although may need the hit out, looks super and has to be hard to beat. He has performed on wet ground which is a huge plus considering he races in the penultimate race on Saturday.

A number of horses took to the number 4 grass, which has been overlooked of late with the plough being a regular feature.

RHINESTONE COWBOY, who looks to add to his impressive two from two wins this prep, completed his 1000 metre assignment in 1.11 and 41. Rain affected ground is a query, but he has trained on super since his victory at Ellerslie.

CRAFTY JESS went 1200 in 1.20 and 41.6. CAMINO ROCOSO followed in similar style, going 1.21 and 40.3 for his 1200 metres.

BREAK MY STRIDE also went 6 furlongs, in 1.19 and 41.

GUNDOWN and ZANYETTA worked together and both looked ready to produce good performances this weekend, striding there 1200 in 1.20, home in 38.6. They should both get track conditions to suit.

Last start winner RONDINELLA looked to have bounced through her impressive fresh up win with a 1.12 in 42.5 for 1000.

THE MAGNATE went 1.13 and 42.

CONCERT HALL cut out 1000 in 1.09 and 41.7.

ZAPPEUR went 5 furlongs also, going 1.10 in 40.

LAURANT completed 1000 in 1.13 and 42.

REDCAYENNE looked bright also when rounding out 1200 in 1.19, home in 38.8.

Last start winner MERLINI looks to have more in store this prep when going 800 in a comfortable 55.

NEWMARKET and SECRETARIA went 1.11 and 41.3. They head to Te Rapa for the Cambridge Jockey Club’s meeting on Sunday.

CLADDAGH ran 1.13 and 41.7 for 1000

MAID OF STEEL looked to be doing things well when going 1200 in 1.20, quickening nicely to be home in 38.8.
