Levin Classic favourite MADISON COUNTY showed he is at peak fitness for Saturday’s 3yo feature when returning excellent work this morning.

Galloping on the plough, MADISON COUNTY appeared to have the measure of stablemate and race rival ESPRESSO MARTINI at the completion of 1000m, run in 1:6.3, sprinting the final 600m in 38.1.
MADISON COUNTY looks the obvious choice in the Group 1 over 1600m, however ESPRESSO MARTINI will come into contention if the track deteriorates.

SACRED DAY and POPPY STAR were in good form over 1200m in 1:20.3, with the concluding 600m clocked in 38. SWORD AND STONE returned the most impressive gallop of the session when sprinting 800m in 48.7, the 600m in 36.1.

MISS ANONYMOUS, who created a good impression when third at Rotorua recently, worked well over 1000m in 1:6.8, finishing off in 38.7. PRINCE ALBERT was given an easy 600m in 45.3.

ST ANDRE and HASSTOBEGOOD were another pair to produce nice work when finishing together over 1000m in 1:5.6 and 37.2. OLLIE came to the end of 1200m in 1:26.4, home in 41.3.

PITCH AND SWITCH was timed from the 600m in 42.1. IT’S DOABLE followed in 43.

MEDITERRANEAN STAR and BOBBY DAZZLER finished on terms at the completion of a comfortable 1200m run in 1:26.5, home in 41.9.

VIS TA VIE strode 600m in 45.3. FRANKLIN left 1400m behind in 1:37 and 40.4.

ANIMATOR coasted 1200m in 1:17, the last 600m in 43. LITE MY CIGAR worked in from the 600m in 43.5.

CAMINO ROCOSO and VICTORY DRIVE were sent 1400m, completing the last 1200m in 1:22.5 and the final 600m in 40.3.

GUNDOWN ran the last 600m of 1000m in 39.8. RUBERA ran 600m in 41. SAVASTEP did well from the 1000m in 1:5.6 and 38.9.

RIPPIN was clocked from the 600m in 41. CUTADEEL ran 600m in 41.5.

BOBBY DEE followed in 41.4. Impressive last start winner PRETTY TO SEA was given an easy task over 600m in 43.7. INTO THE GROOVE returned 42.7 for 600m.

STYLISH SUGGESTION and MISS RUMBLE were timed from the 600m in 41.5. SECRETARIA ran an easy 600m in 44. AMAL ROSE and MARGRETT MISS were clocked over 600m in 40.

On a good No1 grass WHYLIKE was most impressive when working over 1000m, the final 600m run in a smart 36.6. Worth keeping an eye out for that one.
