Track Work 26 March 2019

Multiple winning Baker/Forsman trained mares TOMELILLA and AMBITIOUS WINNER produced the fastest gallop on a busy morning at the Cambridge Jockey club.

Sent 1200, the pair went a solid tempo throughout for an overall time of 1.16, keeping up to the mark through the line and beyond, going 36.9 for their final 600.

TOMELILLA will potentially head to Awapuni for the Bramco Granite and Marble Flying Handicap over 1400 for her fresh up assignment, and looks likely to feature on this morning’s work.

LORD ARTHUR, NORDIC and THE CHOSEN ONE, who at this stage look to be race rivals on Saturday also at Awapuni, were impressive when running over 1600 in 1.46, going to the line locked together and hard held, home in 38.3. They may potentially be joined on Saturday by impressive weekend winner and stablemate SPRING DELIGHT.

IGNORED and RED BEACH caught the eye when completing 1200 in 1.19, home in 37.1. They both seem ready to run big races.

Courtesy Ford Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes bound pair HOLY MONGOLEMPEROR and ARETHA also produced a smart gallop when clocked over 1200 in 1.18, finishing off in 37.2. Draws will be crucial as always, but they look each way chances in a strong race.

SAINT EMILION, who contests the City of Palmerston North Awapuni Gold Cup on Saturday, was sent a little over a mile but timed for the 1600 in 1.45, closing off nice work in 38.5.

High class Mare RONDINELLA, who heads to Australia this afternoon, will be highly competitive off the back of her gallop this morning. Not fully pushed out, she looked to be doing things easily when going 1400 in 1.36, home in 40.1. She may have weekend winner AVILIUS to contend with, but looks super ahead of her first campaign abroad.

LAST SIGHT was full of running over 1000, going 1.03, home in 37.2. ST ANDRE went with DANCING QUEEN also over 5 furlongs, timed in 1.08, 39.3.

JACINDERELLA went alone over 1000 in 1.11, 41.9. ROBUSTO and LADY LIRA, who really stuck to her task with blinkers on, were timed in from the 1200 in 1.20, 38.8.

SHE’S APPLES and an unnamed PINS|MONIETTE horse went 44.1 for their 600.

Talented Marsh trained DEELS DONE went a three quarter paced 1200 in 1.28, 43.5. Ever consistent MASU went 44.6 for 600. MEDAGLIA D’ORO|VELOCE BELLA was sent 1000 in 1.14, 43.6.

REGGIE WOOD and DEEP BEAUTY for the James/Wellwood team, went 38.8 for 600. WILLIAM SCOTT looked ready for a return soon, going 1200, not fully extended but certainly looked bright going 1.27, home in 43.3.

THEE OLD COUGAR went 600 in 44.6. RIPPEDEDEDOODAH, AMASTAR and LASKAAL for Marsh Racing were timed at 44.3 for 600. JIMMY CHOUX|GEMINI and ADELAIDE|LONG LASHES went 41.8 for 3 furlongs.

MY DAKOTA also went 600 in 40.3. VEE CECE looked good going 1200 in 1.20, home in 38.3. DREAM ON was sent 1200 in 1.25, home in 40. LOVE STRUCK went 46.6 for 600.

JIMMY ROCKET was timed over a mile in 1.48, finishing off in 40.1.

KING’S CROSS, who perhaps wasn’t ideally suited to how the race panned out at Tauranga, produced nice work going 1200 in 1.11, cruising to the line in 41.1.

YATIMA went 1.12 for 1000, home in 44.8. GEHRIG looked bright over 1600 in 1.51, quickening nicely to finish off in 39.8.

On the sand POWER DREAM strode 800 in 56, last 600 in 40.7. SPIRITED went 41.9 for 600.
