Track Work 9 April 2019

QIJI EXPRESS and POWER O’HATA made first use of the plough this morning and completed the fastest closing sectional (600) of the morning. Timed over 1000, they cut out 1.04 and 36.1 on a plough that was in great order.

QIJI EXPRESS looks to bounce back from his Trentham disappointment where things didn’t go his way, whereas POWER O’HATA has been patiently waiting her second up assignment this prep.

In one of the last gallops of the morning, RED BEACH and PINEAPPLE LUMP caught the eye when reeling off a fast 1.04 for 1000, home in 36.3.

PINEAPPLE LUMP looks to reward punters who were with him on debut, in the near future. RED BEACH has worked very well of late and should be followed.

MATTER OF FACT, who was extremely unlucky last time out at Avondale, looked to be in top order as she strode out a comfortable 1000 under a nice hold, last 600 in 39.3. The form from that race has held up well with the winner going on to win at Te Aroha on Saturday in a strong field.

Last start winners VEE CECE and IGNORED returned lovely work also. Clocked for 1400 in 1.31, they were locked together upon completion and looked to be doing it easy, rolling home in a tidy 36.5.

CHIEF SEQUOYAH looked bright when timed over 1000 in 1.08:39.

DECADENCE, who went a huge race in the recent Manawatu classic, went 1200 in 1.24, 39.4. He was followed in similar work by stablemate MY DAKOTA who went 1.25, 40.1.

BOBBY DEE seems to be constantly improving, working nicely alongside stablemate and Royston Hospital Hawke’s Bay Cup bound MENTAL TELEPATHY. They went 1400 in 1.31, home in 37.7.

SNITZ OF TIME deserves a breakthrough and worked this morning like it may not be far away. Timed over 800, the SNITZEL mare stopped the clock at 53.1, rounding off in 39.4.

ELLE EYE ARE and RUBIRA were another to produce decent times throughout their 1200, going a decent gallop throughout when clocked at 1.17, 36.9.

SOCIALLY EXCITED and CHARLI ROSE, who aim for Autumn campaigns, went 1000 in 1.06, home in what looked to be a comfortable but slick 36.3.

RIPPIN went alone over 1200 in 1.19, 38.3. YATIMA may be one to follow. Timed over 1000 and wasn’t asked for time when running 1.13 and 43.2.
