Track Work 19 September 2019

ARETHA and BIRDSONG showed they are ready to perform well in a fresh state at Hastings this weekend, when galloping on a dead No. 4 grass.

ARETHA and BIRDSONG, who are race rivals in the Hawke’s Bay Breeders Gold Trail Stakes for three year old fillies, worked nicely together over 1000m, run in 1:6.1, completing the last 600m in 38.

ARETHA had a slight advantage at the finish. She has drawn a handy gate while BIRDSONG has to compete from the outside.

MONGOLIAN MARSHAL and CUTADEEL followed good Tuesday work with another encouraging gallop over 1000m in 1:8.6, finishing off in 38.7.

MONGOLIAN MARSHAL has drawn the No. 1 gate and looks a good each way chance at big odds. CUTADEEL will have to overcome the outside barrier.

SMART AS YOU THINK and HINERANGI matched strides from the 1000m in 1:7.9 and 37.8.

ZACADA came to the end of 1200m in 1:17.5, home in 38.4.

On the No. 2 grass, DIVINE DIVE looked in great order for Hastings when working in easily from the 600m in 42.

TIGHTLIGN strode comfortably over 800m in 56.8. ZAMAX did well over 800m in 49.9.

JAMES DEAN and STRAIGHT BAY impressed when finishing together at the completion of a smart 1000m in 1:2.8, dashing the 600m in 36.3.

On The No. 1 grass HASSTOBEGOOD caught the eye with a nice gallop over 1000m in 1:4.2, the concluding 600m in 37.7. She should run well fresh up in Saturday’s Hawke’s Bay Breeders Gold Trail Stakes and will be worth following over the coming months.

CONCERT HALL came to the end of 1400m in 1:38, the last 600m in 40.2. RONDINELLA was sent 1400m, clocked in 1:42, finishing the final 600m in 40.
