Track Work 24 December 2019

Racings busiest time of the year is upon us and that was very evident with the amount of gallops that took place this morning.

TRUE ENOUGH looks to hold the key to the Baker/Forsman trio of runners in the Group 1 Zabeel Classic. Working alongside stablemate and race rival MONGOLIAN MARSHAL, the pair were sent 1400 on the plough and produced an excellent final piece of work, clocking 1.36, before stretching out nicely over the final 3 furlongs, home in 36.8.

QUEEN OF DIAMONDS also contests the feature race. She worked superbly on the No. 1 grass over 1400, going 1.33, home in 36.2. Things haven’t quite clicked for her this prep but she’s very classy at her best and a forward showing wouldn’t surprise.

AMAL ROSE looks a big chance to return to winning form. She’ll likely head to Matamata on Saturday. She worked like a winner this morning when being sent 1200 in 1.18, rounding off in a stylish 36.2.

Stablemates TWO ILLICIT and SHENANIGANS rounded off their preparation for Ellerslie in fine style. Going 1200m, the pair were on terms throughout, timed in 1.20, home in 37.1.

SHENANIGANS’ task became difficult when barrier draws were released but will be one to watch. TWO ILLICIT feared much better and looks an each way chance.

KAIPAKI ROAD wasn’t after time when going 1000m in 1.16, rolling home in 45.2. She ran a very tidy race last time and although odds suggest otherwise, she may run a cheeky race in what is undoubtedly a very strong line-up.

Hugely promising KALI looks more than ready for the big time as she’s set to race in the Sistema Railway on New Years day. She was timed over 800 in 51.5. In a wide open looking race she looks a chance if draws work in her favour.

COCO BACI, DIAMONDS GALORE and SHOWBEEL worked together and caught the eye at the completion of 1200m in 1.18, 38. SHOWBEEL ran a very good race in the Eulogy Stakes after being slow away. She does draw wide however. The other two have drawn better and are more than capable of running big races, but certainly as they get up over further they are worth sticking with.

VEE CECE looks ready for her raceday return. She heads to a R72 at New Plymouth on Friday. She skipped along superbly and was timed for her last 600 in 37.1.

SPECIAL LIGHT looks a lightweight hope in the opening event on Boxing Day. She worked over 1400m, and came home in a steady 40.3 but looks fit and ready to go.

SAVASTEP looks a chance for Rotorua. She edged ahead of stablemate DECLARADA after a solid hit out over 1000m in 1.05, 38.1.

ROBUSTO and TRIP TO FREEDOM also ran time. Working over 1000m also, they ran solid sectionals throughout, stopping the clock in 1.02, 36.8.

INDAH worked alone and looks on track for another bold effort. She went 1.19 for 1200m, rattling home in 36.8. She was an impressive last start winner and stays in R65 grade.

LYN’S ORCHID was massive on debut and worked nicely this morning over 1400 in 1.40, 40.2. She stays at 1400m which may be the only query but looks a chance if she produces a similar race day effort.

The two greys BERGAMOT and SNOWDEEL worked well together over 1200 in 1.25, 38.2.
