Track Work 30 July 2020

Because many local horses were engaged in the Te Rapa trials earlier in the week, very few gallops took place this morning.

Galloping on the inside No. 2 grass (dead), LUBAYA enhanced her Matamata chances with an impressive 1000m in 1.4, sprinting the last 600m in 36.8.  Her work over the past few weeks has been first rate and although she has to contend with a wide barrier draw she looks a good each way bet fresh up.

ROBUSTO and PEARLESCENCE were together throughout 1000m in a smart 1:3.8, dashing the final 600m in 35.7.

ARE EIGHTEEN and MILLIE GEORGIA matched strides from the 800m, completing the concluding 600m in 37.2.  SPIRIT OF BAZ and GEMINI did well from the 600m in 37.4.

A TAVISTOCK and a PINS from Finbarr Leahy’s stable, cut out 600m in 38.2.

A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and a TAVISTOCK gelding for Andrew Campbell, came in from the 600m in 37.8.  LUCKY ESCAPE looked in good order when running 600m in 37.2.

On the sand LADY LIRA looked fit for Matamata when completing 800m in 53.2, finishing the last 600m in 39.2.

OCEAN SPIRIT was given an easy 1000m in 1.13, coming home in 43.9.

LOVESTRUCK was well held from the 1000m in 1:14.2 and 44.2.  DON DRAPER ran the last 600m of 800m in 41.9.
