Saracino (Lisa Allpress) scoring an impressive Foxbridge Plate win at Te Rapa, the scene of his next major mission.

Talented Cambridge three-year-old Saracino will shoot for his second Te Rapa weight-for-age sprint feature this season when he tackles February’s Gr.1 NRM Sprint (1400m).

Group One-placed at two, Saracino began his three-year-old season with a win in the Gr.2 Foxbridge Plate (1200m) at Te Rapa in August before winning the Gr.2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington the following month.

Though he failed to add to his tally during the Melbourne spring, Saracino has his trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman excited for the New Year.

“He’s already a weight-for-age winner on the track and we think he’ll be very competitive in that sprint,” said Baker.

Meanwhile, Coldplay, one of the star acts of the summer so far for the Baker – Forsman stable, has headed to the spelling paddock.

“We’ve just eased up on her. She had a foot abscess and we’ve put her out,” he said. “We’ll bring her back for the autumn.”

Coldplay is unbeaten in three starts this season, progessing from a Rating 75 win at Ellerslie in October to success in the Gr.3 Eagle Technology Stakes (1600m) at Ellerslie and the Gr.2 Cal Isuzu Stakes (1600m) at Te Rapa earlier this month.
