Cambridge Duo In Top 10

Two New Zealand-bred gallopers with strong Cambridge ties feature in the top 10 on the ARF Racehorse Rankings for three-year-olds and upwards, which raced between January 1 and May 4, 2014.

The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained It’s A Dundeel, who retired to stud following his breathtaking Queen Elizabeth Stakes victory, is rated 122 by the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings Committee.

That was the son of High Chaparral’s 10th win of his 19-start career and his sixth at the highest level.  He also became just the fifth horse to claim Sydney’s 3yo Triple Crown of the Randwick and Rosehill Guineas and the AJC Derby.

Rated at 120 is the former Cambridge-trained Sacred Falls, who is a two-time winner of the Gr 1 Doncaster Handicap from Chris Waller’s Sydney stable.

The Waikato Stud graduate was formerly prepared by Tony Pike and Mark Donoghue. He began his career in sensational style from their yard with six straight wins culminating in the Gr 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas at Riccarton.

Japanese star Just A Way, who romped to victory in the Dubai Duty Free in March, is rated the world’s best racehorse at 130, ahead of South African galloper Variety Club, who won the Champions’ Mile in Hong Kong, on 126.
