Caulfield move possible for locals

Trent Busuttin and partner Natalie Young are looking to be a lot closer to the big-race Australian action.

The Cambridge trainers are in the running for boxes at Caulfield with Busuttin having approached the Melbourne Racing Club about the possibility of the move to the centre.

“I’ve been in discussions for the last couple of weeks and expressed interest in boxes if any become available,” said Busuttin. “It’s common knowledge that Rick Hore-Lacy is retiring sometime soon and I’m one of the few applicants with a chance of getting those boxes.

“We’ve got a lot of New Zealand owners looking to get their horses to Australia on a more permanent basis and we’d be coming over with a strong team of horses.”

Whatever happens, Busuttin and Young have plans to be in Melbourne in the spring with the smart youngster El Roca and three-time Group One winner Sangster, whose Melbourne deeds include a win in the Gr. 1 VRC Derby.
