Collett trying luck in Macau

Sam Collett will step into unfamiliar territory this weekend when she rides in Macau on Sunday.

The talented young jockey, who bides her trackwork duties between the Cambridge training track and riding work at Maungatautari for Stephen Ramsay and Julia Ritchie, will be riding for Macau trainer K.H. Leong.

Collett flew to Macau on Monday evening after competing at the Te Teko meeting and she plans to return after Sunday’s meeting.

“I’ve never been there before and I’m looking forward to it,” said Collett on the eve of her departure. “It’ll be a great experience for me and if I have a bit of luck maybe I could get a contract to go back for a bit longer.”

Collett left New Zealand on a winning note when successful on the Tony Cole-trained Rhythm Divine in the main event at Te Teko, the Putauaki Trust Cup.
