Could be lucky again

Lucky Heights is in the right condition to leave Ruakaka tomorrow with his unbeaten record intact.

“He’s trained on well, he’s got a nice draw and he’s got Matt Cameron on so I am quietly confident,” said his Cambridge trainer Shane Crawford.

“Hopefully there’s a bit of give in the track again. He’s not a bad animal and it wasn’t any surprise what he did at Dargaville.”

Lucky Heights was a smart winner on debut and the three-year-old looks a top chance to deliver a repeat performance in the Adams Trimmer Insurance 1400.

The three-year-old is raced by the Hong Kong-based Tony Chan, whose colours will also be worn by apprentice Darren Danis on Bubblebubble Pop in the Lion Red 1400.

“He’s been a bit of a tricky horse and he should get better the further he goes,” said Crawford of the three-year-old who has been placed at the trials and has also drawn a handy gate.

Crawford has enjoyed a successful association with Chan, for whom he also prepares the undefeated pair of Standing In Line and Parallel Universe.

“Standing In Line is under offer to Hong Kong,” he said. “Tony’s only got so many permits in Hong Kong so he can’t race them all up there.”

Standing In Line broke his maiden last month and was then successful at Wanganui where Parallel Universe was also a runaway winner.

“He’ll probably go to Counties on Wednesday week, all going well,” said Crawford.
