Thee Auld Floozie’s travelling fund for Christchurch was further swelled by another timely deposit at Te Rapa today.

Following her success at Rotorua earlier this month, Thee Auld Floozie produced a dominant display to claim the lion’s share of the stake in the Seafood Bazaar 1600.

Thee Auld Floozie’s odds have now been trimmed from $18 to $10 for the Gr.2 Coupland’s Bakeries Mile, while stablemate Seize The Moment, a sound fourth behind Thee Auld Floozie today, has gone the other way and he is now an $18 chance for the November 9 feature.

“She had a beautiful weight (54kg) today and that will top her off nicely for the Coupland’s,” said trainer Stephen Marsh. “She’s a very good mare and from the inside draw she was always going to be a big player if she jumped okay.”

Thee Auld Floozie did just that to sit behind the pace on the fence and rider Michael McNab moved her away from the rail across the top.

Thee Auld Floozie hit the front 200 metres from home and drove clear to beat Amarula by a length and three-quarters with the favourite Charmont third.

“She’s in a good vein of form and loving life at the moment. All we have to do is to keep her on ice until the Coupland’s,” said Marsh.

Marsh was also pleased with Seize The Moment’s performance under 60kg.

“It was never going to be easy for him and he will improve again with this run,” he said. “The blinkers will be back on at Riccarton.”
