Promising Cambridge mare Preetha Varma hasn’t missed a beat since her solid second behind Sweet Leader when she recently resumed at Te Rapa.

“The track was perfect for her there, but unfortunately she ran into a very good horse,” said trainer Mark Forbes.

Preetha Varma, who may return to Te Rapa for her next appearance, performed well in strong three-year-old company last season.

One of her best efforts came in the Gr. 2 Eight Carat Classic, in which she ran fifth after being badly galloped on in the incident that saw Sofia Rosa clip heels and fall.
