Cambridge stables have ensured top jockey Opie Bosson will be earning extra airpoints over the next couple of weekends.

Bosson will be in Melbourne on Saturday to ride the Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained stablemates Mongolian Khan, Dal Cielo and Maygrove then will return to New Zealand before departing to Australia again the following weekend.

Bosson has picked up the mount on the Stephen Marsh-trained Sofia Rosa in the Gr. 1 Flight Stakes at Randwick on Saturday week and he will then head to Melbourne the next morning to ride the Baker and Forsman-trained Collaborate in the Listed A$120,000 UCI Stakes (1800m) at Flemington that day.

“Sofia Rosa has got to be a chance on her run over there last Saturday,” said Bosson, referring to her sixth in the Gr. 2 Tea Rosa Stakes when anchored down on the inside in the worst of going.

Bosson is looking forward to this weekend’s action and was thrilled when the barrier draws came out and each of his mounts had drawn well.

Dal Cielo has drawn barrier two in the Gr. 3 A$175,000 BECK Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m), Mongolian Khan has drawn three in the Gr. 1 A$400,000 Hyland Race Colours Underwood Stakes and Maygrove has barrier nine in the Listed A$120,000 Harry White Classic.

“The Cleaner will make sure it’s a genuine pace in front so that will suit Mongolian Khan,” said Bosson. “I was rapt in his first-up run.”
