Zabeel’s son Von Tunzelman may make one more appearance before his season is done.

“I might have a look at the Awapuni Gold Cup and that would be it,” said trainer Roger James.

The grey four-year-old has made impressive progress this preparation with a Listed win in the Kaimai Stakes two starts ago before he finished a respectable sixth in the Gr.1 New Zealand Stakes.

“He had to cover a bit of extra ground to get into the race so I thought his run was all right,” said James.

Meanwhile, another smart four-year-old in the stable is Romantic Maid ,who runs in Saturday’s Gr.2 Windsor Park Stud Japan/NZ International Trophy.
