Cambridge trainer Shaune Ritchie is taking advantage of the Breakfast With The Stars session at Ellerslie tomorrow morning.

Ritchie will head north for the session with Snow Secret, his Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Cup prospect, and Hot Saki, who is being prepared for next Saturday’s Gr.3 $70,000 McKee Family Sunline Vase (2100m).

“Hot Saki hasn’t been to Ellerslie before and I want to give her a look around before Saturday,” said Ritchie. “It’ll be good for Snow Secret, too. It will be a month between races for her.”

Sam Collett and Matt Cameron have been booked for Hot Saki and Snow Secret in their respective feature engagements and both riders will be aboard tomorrow.

Hot Saki followed a debut sixth with an easy maiden win at Te Aroha earlier this month and will be stepping up from 1600 this weekend.

Snow Secret was runner-up to Lizzie L’Amour in the Gr.3 Skycity Hamilton Waikato Cup last December and her last two starts have resulted in a seventh in the Wellington Cup and a fourth of six at Te Rapa.

“It was a dawdle and a sprint home at Te Rapa and it didn’t suit her,” said Ritchie. “If she went super and was in the first three in the Auckland Cup we may look at the Sydney Cup otherwise she will go out for a spell after it.”
