Jon Snow retired

Jon Snow has been retired following his Gr.1 placing at Ellerslie with a new career path to begin.

ATC Derby winner Jon Snow has been retired after finishing a gallant third in the Gr.1 Zabeel Classic (2000m) on Boxing Day.

Prepared at Cambridge by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, the Iffraaj five-year-old stallion won four of his 23 starts with eight minor placings for $2.1m in career earnings.

Owned by the Zame partnership, his biggest success came in the Gr.1 ATC Derby (2400m) as a three-year-old after winning the Gr.2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) in his previous start.

He was also successful in the Gr.3 JRA Cup (2040m) at Moonee Valley as well as finishing in the placings on four occasions at Group One level.

Co-trainer Andrew Forsman made the announcement on twitter where he said “Derby winner Jon Snow has been retired after his game third in the Gr.1 Zabeel Classic on Boxing day.

“The stable would like to thank the Zame family for what has been an amazing ride.

“He retires a happy, sound horse with owners now considering stud options.”
