Locals ready to shape up at Te Rapa

Von Tunzelman, pictured winning on debut at Te Aroha, will be attempting to regain that form tomorrow.

Local trainers will be out in force at the Cambridge Jockey Club’s meeting at Te Rapa tomorrow.

With strong representation over the eight races, local stables look assured of playing a big part in the day’s action and visiting horses from the central districts will add further interest to the programme.

An exception on the card is the first event with no local stables represented and with just two of the six acceptors at this stage having raced it won’t be easy for punters.

Ardmore trainer Stephen McKee holds a strong hand in the race with two first-starters, Shezallpower and Sunrise Ruby, and both have been trials placed.

Shaune Ritchie, Tony Pike and Shelley Houston will start the charge for locals in the second event and Roger James could end the day on a high with Von Tunzelman in the final event.

With a dead5 track at mid-afternoon today and showers it could make it a difficult day for punters so we’ve come up with set of tips to hopefully help the pocket. Good luck.
