Moon Tide Shines on Debut

Well-related filly Moon Tide has started her career in dream style with victory at the first time of asking for her Cambridge connections. The Oaks Stud-bred and raced filly raced up to her pedigree with an impressive debut win at Te Awamutu on Sunday for trainer Frank Ritchie.

A daughter of Bachelor Duke, Moon Tide is out of the unraced Fairy King mare Fairy Lights, who has proved to be a broodmare gem for the farm. Eight of her nine foals to race have won and includes The Oaks’ resident sire, the Japanese stakes winner and Group One performer Roc De Cambes.

Fairy Lights is also the dam of the dam of the dual Group Two Hawke’s Bay and Wellington Guineas winner Keyora and the Gr 1 NZ Derby runner-up Roman Chariot.

The mare is a half-sister to the international Group winners Moon Solitaire and Germano, the sire of the Gr 1 Sydney Cup winner Ista Kareem.
