Smart Cambridge mare Mime was a notable absentee from this week’s New Zealand travelling party to Queensland.

“There were a couple of things against it and we decided to draw a line through Brisbane,” said Michael Wallace, bloodstock and racing manager for owners the China Horse Club.

“She’s in the paddock now and we’ll have her back for the Hawke’s Bay spring carnival.”

Trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, Mime ended her autumn campaign with victory in the Gr.2 Travis Stakes at Te Rapa.
