Ready to raise top effort again

Raisedinasandpit is ready to carry on her good form tomorrow.

The in-form Raisedinasandpit gets another good opportunity at Tauranga tomorrow to further her record.

The seven-year-old has two wins and a couple of placings from her last five starts and she looks a strong chance to extend her run of form in the Gartshore Retail Fit Outs 1600.

“She’s been well-placed and hasn’t performed much in Saturday races – she’s been a good battler,” said Graham Thomas, who trains Raisedinasandpit with Nick Smith. “She’s won five races now, not many do that.

“A couple of seasons ago, and even last season, she started hanging and she wasn’t that willing, but this year she’s a totally different horse.”

Raisedinasandpit, a daughter of Istidaad, was a Rating 65 winner at Matamata last June and following placings at Avondale and at Ellerslie she struck again on a testing track at Te Aroha.

“Matt (Cameron) rode her at Avondale and he thought she would be a much better mare when the going got a bit better,” said Thomas.

“It was pretty bad at Te Aroha when she won and young Sam Weatherley said she wasn’t that happy and was ducking and diving. She’s come through the race well and if the track improved a bit at Tauranga I wouldn’t mind.”

Weatherley will again ride the mare and with his claim she will only have to carry 52kg.

Despite her good recent form, Raisedinasandpit is already half-way toward qualifying in another role.

“She’s got the first part of her jumping ticket and we’ll get the other half soon,” said Thomas. “She’s owned by Neil Porritt, who is a strong supporter of the jumping racing.”
