Rosa Carolina transferred to Lees

Stephen Marsh4 (640x512)Stephen Marsh has waved goodbye to another potential star, but it came as no surprise to the Cambridge trainer.

Promising filly Rosa Carolina has been transferred to the Newcastle stable of Kris Lees to be targeted at some of the big three-year-old fillies’ races next season.

Rosa Carolina is raced by Lil Petagna, who enjoyed the biggest thrill in racing on the second day of the Championships in Sydney when Sofia Rosa won the Australian Oaks then Lucia Valentina top it off with a superb win in the $A4 million Gr. 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Marsh (pictured) prepares Sofia Rosa and he also did the early groundwork with Lucia Valentina, winning the Gr. 3 Wellington Stakes and being runner-up in the Gr. 2 NZB Royal Stakes, before she entered Lees’ stable.

Like Lucia Valentina, Rosa Carolina is a daughter of champion sire Savabeel and gives the impression she will make her mark as a three-year-old.

After a trials win, she finished second on debut at Trentham behind subsequent Group One winner Heroic Valour then had a rocky run when sixth in her other start, the Gr. 2 Matamata Breeders Stakes.
