Track Work 18 February 2021

STAR TSAR completed his Wallen Concreting Avondale Cup preparation with comfortable work on the plough.

On a quiet morning STAR TSAR was restrained over 1600m in 1:56.1, the last 1000m in 1.10 and the final 600m in 41.3.  He has been galloping well since an easy win last start and although he has to contend with an outside draw, he should be hard to beat.

Stable-mate and Wallen Concreting Avondale Cup rival ROBUSTO, who has also copped a wide ally, had FRONTMAN for a companion from the 1000m, completing the last 600m in a comfortable 41.7.  Both returned encouraging work Tuesday.

FRONTMAN looked in magnificent order but is another Baker/Forsman runner to receive a wide gate and will need luck in the running in Saturday’s AJC Avondale Guineas.

MILFORD did his AJC Avondale Guineas chances no harm with nice work over 1000m in 1:10.4, finishing off in 41.1.

ULAANBAATAR, another from the in-form Marsh stable, was sent 1000m at three-quarter pace, coming home in 43.8.  He looks well but will need to improve to figure in the finish.

LINCOLN KING cut out 1000m in 1:11.3 and 42.

LONG JACK, who has been off the scene for some time, looked fit for a return to racing next week at Matamata, left 1200m behind in 1:25.6, home in 41.8.

DEELS DONE came to the end of 1000m in 1:11.1 and 43.  THE BLING and JOLENE matched strides from the 800m, the last 600m in 40.

ATISHU followed with 600m in 42.9.  CONTEMPLATION and APOSTROPHE were timed from the 1400 in 1:39.5, the concluding 600m in 39.4.

PUNCHLINE was sent 1400m in 1:37.1 and home in 38.4.
