Track Work 27 February 2020

Classy up and coming colt RUN TO PERFECTION only needed a touch more than three-quarter pace work to top him off nicely for Saturday’s Mufhasa Fasttrack Stakes. He cantered his way around before polishing off three furlongs of work in a shade over 40.

As mentioned on Tuesday, he ran second to a super horse last time out, has won previously at Ellerslie and looks primed and ready to do so again.

STAR TSAR produced an eye-catching gallop, proving his readiness to bounce back to winning ways. On the back plough (right-handed) alongside stablemate and race rival THOMAS AQUINAS, the pair got along at a solid clip, running 1.06 for 1000m, home in 37.3. STAR TSAR finally draws an alley and will take some beating.

Derby bound SCORPZ finished off his prep for the big dance with a nice piece of work. Timed over 1400m in a modest 1.41, SCORPZ then quickened slightly and stretched out very comfortably to finish off in 40.1.

THE CHOSEN ONE, who resumed in fine style when running third in the Haunui Farm WFA Group One Classic, showed he is ready to tackle the listed 2000m race in Sydney that he will be entered in for Saturday week. He went 1000m in 1.10, 39.5.

Another recent Group One performer, TRUE ENOUGH, ran 1.22 for 1200m, home in 38.6.

McKee Family Sunline Vase contestants BERGAMOT and DARCEE QUE worked on the back plough, also in preparation for the right-handed way of going. They were timed over 1200m in 1.20, 38.7. BERGAMOT seemed to hold a slight advantage and looks a very nice chance, not only for Saturday, but for the upcoming Al Basti Equiworld Dubai New Zealand Oaks at Trentham.

PLUCKY MISS and DEEP BEAUTY matched strides and did it well when clocking 52.9 for 800m, finishing off in 37.2.

ARETHA will resume in the Mufhasa Fasttrack Stakes. Any rain would increase her chances. She wasn’t fully extended over 1000m, rolling home in 41.2.

Rock hard fit CRAFTY JESS continues to work well. She was only clocked from the 600m, running a sharp 37.

KAIPAKI ROAD produced three-quarter starters work, 1000m in 1.16, home in 44.1. She will contend with a nice field of three year old fillies in the McKee Family Sunline Vase. She was followed up by stablemate in BABY FACE in very close to identical work in terms of time.

MADAM HASS looked ready to rumble after going 600m in 38.2. She just needs to settle with cover to be right amongst it on Saturday.

AMAL ROSE went 1.43 for 1400m, home in 41.5. She is another Cambridge representative in the McKee Family Sunline Vase, and she wouldn’t be the worst chance at decent odds.

HASSTOBEGOOD was timed over 1000m in 1.14, 42.5. She’s another that if she can race a little kinder and not over do things, comes into calculations.

CABRELSEA looked good when clocking 1.19 for 1200m, home in 38.2.

Promising filly QUEEN OF ROSES went with KALIUWAA over 800m in 56, 39.8.

SANTA CATARINA draws poorly for Saturday’s Haunui Farm King’s Plate. She ran 600 in 45.
Stablemate and race rival MOLTO VELOCE went 800m in 59.5, 44.3.

In-form THREADTHENEEDLE went 600m in 44.1. Last start winner VICTORY GLORY came home in 40.2.
