Track Work 6 April 2017

MIME, one of half a dozen locals entered for Saturday’s Group One Fiber Fresh New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes for Fillies and Mares, handled the heavy conditions well at Cambridge this morning.

Galloping on the outside of the number four grass, MIME strode 1200 in 1:27, with the final 600 cut out in 41. She was unlucky last start and could make amends this weekend.

Race rival SOFIA ROSA was no less inconvenienced by the heavy footing when covering 1000 in 1:11, finishing off in 41.

ROMANTIC MAID followed impressive Tuesday work with an easy 1000 in 1:11.7 and 40.2. She will need improvement in track conditions to show her best.

CHARMONT returned 1:12 for 1000, the last 600 in 41.3. BIG DREAMER got through the conditions nicely when coming in from the 600 in 43.9.

THEE AULD FLOOZIE completes the six local runners in the Group One feature, was sent 600 in 40.9. Unbeaten mare LET ME ROAR looked fit for Te Rapa when completing 800 in 55.1, completing the last 600 in 38.9 (the quickest section of the morning).

LOVE AFFAIR came to the end of 1000 in 1:11 and 40.3. SMILING MORE, a decisive trial winner at Cambridge recently, came to the end of 800 in 54.7.

PITCH AND SWITCH, who heads for the 2 year old Melody Belle Cup at Trentham, cut out 800 in 56.

SHOW THE WORLD was timed from the 1000 in 1:11.3 and home in 41. IT’S COMPLICATED worked well alongside stable mate HIGHLY EXCESSIVE when timed from the 600 in 41.6.

KILLARNEY looked fit for Te Rapa when working in from the 1000 at 3/4 pace, increasing over the last 600 in 46. He is another who will need decent footing to show his best.

MYSTERY SHOW worked in from the 600 in 41.9. BAYMAX was given an easy task over 1000 at 3/4 pace.

SEIZE THE MOMENT returned 42 for 600, EKAROSA followed in 44.

Ultra consistent JULIUS, completed an easy 1000 in 1:11.8 and 41. BATTLE TIME and FARM BOY were timed from the 600 in 40.5. CHOCANTE ran 1000 in 1:10, the last 600 in 40.2.

MY PRIDE and JOY worked in from the 800 in 52. SAILING completed 1000 in 1:10, the 600 in 40.1. Trudeau ran 600 in 41.6.

Track Tip for Te Rapa: MIME. Unlucky last start. Good chance in strong field.
