Track Work – Thursday, 13 October 2011

Class sprinter Vonusti galloped attractively at Cambridge this morning in preparation for Saturday’s Lion Red Plate at Rotorua.

Working on a heavy No.2 grass, with the markers out 12 metres, Vonusti (Carter) was travelling nicely alongside stable mate He’s A Joker (Gillies) at the completion of 800m in 50, the last 600m in 37.1. Jeu de Cartes (Orting) and Snave (German) travelled sweetly from the 1000m in 1:5.3, finishing off in 37.4. Well-performed Snow Excuse (McFarlane), a favoured runner in Saturday’s Hawker Trucks Three-Year-Old Handicap at Rotorua, worked nicely alongside Tookie (Cropp) from the 1000m in 1:6.4, the last 600m in 38.1.

Mr Tipsy (Houston), Hurricane Mickey (Roustoby) and Fast Love (Orting) left 1400m behind in 1:32.6, the concluding 600m in 40.1. Fast Love and Mr Tipsy were slightly in front at the finish. All three race at Rotorua.

Mr Kanton (Gillies) and Savanah Dancer (Backstrom) matched strides from the 1000m in 1:9, the final 600m in 38.7. Taking the Mickey (Ormsby) was clocked from the 1000m in 1:7.2, the last 600m in 39.2. Feel One (Donoghue) returned 1:9 for 1000m, the 600m in 40. Handsome Mates (Cropp) returned 38.6 for 600m.
Single Currency (Cully) cut out 1000m in 1:7.1 and 39.3. Catch the Star (Vennendale) worked in from the 600m in 41.

Galloping on the No.1 grass He’s Remarkable (McFarlane), who will embark on an Australian campaign next week, looked in excellent order when sent 1200m at three-quarter pace.
