Track Work – Thursday, 14 June

Stablemates Chill Bill and Hurricane Mickey returned pleasing work at Cambridge today when preparing for Ellerslie this weekend.

Galloping 12m out on a heavy No.2 grass Chill Bill (Orting) and Hurricane Mickey (Roustoby) were sent 1200m, the last 1000m being run in 1:6.1 and the last 600m in 39.3. Chill Bill should keep his consistent record intact on Saturday. Hurricane Mickey is fitter for two runs back from a spell.

Impressive last start winner Khemosabi (Frank) kept up a good clip over 1000m in 1:5.8, sprinting the last 600m in 38.9. Taking the Mickey (Donoghue), who looks close to peak fitness, was timed from the 600m in 39. Sandy Star (Gatu) reeled off 600m in 40.5.

Working on a good sand Bella Zeel (Calder) left 1200m behind in a comfortable 1:26, finishing off in 40.2. Ishma (Roustoby) came to the end of 600m in 39.4. Great of Favours (Orting) followed with 600m in 41.7. How Far (Norvall) was untroubled to return 41 for 600m. A High Chaparral colt from the Marsh stable ran 600m in 41.2.

Ellerslie best bet and track tip – St Chalan – looks well placed to clear maiden ranks

Outsider – Taking he Mickey.
