Barbaric and Steadfast look good weekend chances after impressive gallops at Cambridge

Working on the outside of a heavy No 2 grass Barbaric, in the hands of raceday rider Michael McNab, was not fully extended when completing 600m in 41. He was travelling sweetly throughout and looks set to extend his good track record at Te Rapa on Saturday.

Steadfast, an impressive debut winner, looked ready for a bold showing at Te Rapa when completing 600m in 41.1. Aaja Nachle was in good form when covering 1200m in 1.25.7, sprinting the final 600 in 40. Ana and Devine Shiva left 1200m behind in 1.24 finishing off in 41.5. Charlston Girl was clocked from the 800m in 54.

Taumaruni Gold Cup candidate Storming the Tower followed impressive Tuesday work with an easy gallop over 600m in 44.9. He is in first class order and looks a leading chance. Race rival Kentucky Son, who is back to his best followed with 600m in 40.7. Little Alfie Brown, another cup contender, was given an easy task over 600m in 43. Maranui cut out 600m in 42.3.

Arzak, who races at Te Aroha on Sunday, worked well over 1400m in 1.36.2, coming home in 41. Amanood Lad enhanced his Te Aroha prospects with a nice workout with stable mate Cornelius completing 1400m in 1.42.2, home in 40.9. Perfect Hero was timed from the 600m in 40. Clara Jane strode 1400m at three quarter pace finishing off in 44.1. Lady Sayyida was sent an easy 1800m coming home in 43.9.
