Track Work – Thursday, 22 December 2011

Likely Zabeel Classic favourite Veyron endorsed his prospects with an encouraging workout at Cambridge this morning.  Due to there being no local meetings this weekend few gallops were recorded.

Galloping on the outside of a dead No.1 grass Veyron, with race day rider Leith Innes aboard, was under a firm hold throughout 1400m in 1:35.4, the 1200m in 1:20.8 and the final 600m in 39.9.  He will be attempting to win his eighth race at Ellerslie on Boxing Day.

The Roger James trio, Full of Spirit, Holy Moly and Silent Achiever, who are all entered for Monday’s New Zealand Bloodstock Royal Stakes, worked well in separate gallops.  Full of Spirit (McFarlane) travelled sweetly throughout 1000m in 1:3.9, finishing off in 37.7.   Holy Moly (McFarlane) worked in nicely from the 1000m, being timed over the concluding 600m in 38.5.  Silent Achiever (Andrew) followed with 1000m in 1:7.7, the last 600m in 39.1.

Gendarme (E Holmes) and Barney (P Holmes) matched strides from the 1400m in 1:34.1, the last 1000m in 1:4.4 and the final 600m in 37.3.

Galloping on the inside of the No.4 grass stable mates Almon (Young) and Darci Divine (Saucede) were on terms at the completion of 1000m in 1:4.1, the final 600m in 36.4.  Darci Divine, a recent trials winner, will make her debut at the New Plymouth meeting on Saturday, while Almon, also a debutante, runs at Rotorua next Tuesday.  Brella Belle (medium weight) impressed over 1000m in 1:2, sprinting the 600m in 37.
