Jeu de Cartes and Ambitious Champion rounded off their preparations for racing at Te Rapa on Saturday in fine style at Cambridge today

Galloping on the inside of a heavy No.2 grass Jeu de Cartes (Roustoby) and Ambitious Champion (Hutton) worked in from the 1000m in 1:6.2, sprinting the last 600m in 37.1. Both look winning chances at their local meeting this weekend.

Carrick (Donoghue), who is improving with each outing, worked in well from the 1000m in 1:5, coming home in 36.9. Barbaric (Cribben) followed up encouraging Tuesday work with a comfortable hit out over 8oom, the last 600m in 42.1. Artistic (Jago) left 1000m behind in 1:11, coming home in 41.2. Inarush (O’Shea), an acceptor for Waipa on Monday, did well over 1200m in 1:19.2, the 600m in 37.

Temptation (Roustoby) left 1000m behind in 1:7, finishing off in 38.8. Dancing Embers (Mirabelli) strode in easily from the 1200m in 1:30, the 600m in 41. Bob Valdez (Kuru) was schooled over nine hurdles and handled the task with confidence.

Working on the sand Singing Dunes (Hutton) and Maygrove (Roustoby) matched strides from the 1000m in 1:9, the last 600m in 38.7. Airtime (Young) was sent 1400m, being timed over the last 600m in 39.3.

Brahstring (Hutton) ran 600m in 38.3. Mackadoo (Hutton) and Swami (German) ran the last 600m of 1200m in 39.
