Mongolian Khan rounded off his preparation for Saturdays NZ Derby with a comfortable work out at Cambridge this morning

Galloping on the plough, Mongolian Khan was paired with Saint Emilion over 1400m in 1:40, the final 600m in 40.6 sec.  Both horses look top prospects for Ellerslie.

Maid Of Steel looked at peak fitness for Saturday, when cruising the 1000m in 1:10 and coming home in 39.7. Second Innings looked fit for Ellerslie when covering 1200m with Silver Minx in 1:23.2, sprinting the final 600m in 37.9. Nomisma and Hong Kong Empire were comfortable throughout the 1000m in 1:13, finishing off in 41 sec.

Chenille, another local derby aspirant worked in nicely from the 1200m in 1:23.1, the concluding 600m in 39 sec. Shelford was clocked from the 600m in 38.8. Flying Briar sprinted 600m in 37.1.  Lowland Stakes candidate Pipi Beel and Works Wonders came to the end of 1200m in 1:22.1, and 38.3.

Denis Denuto, Blue Wagon and Capinsky cut out 1200m in 1:09 and 39.7.   Miss Foxwood left 1200m behind in 1:24, and the 600m in 40.7.   Harmonise and Never In Doubt strode 800m in 58. Storming The Tower was in good form over 1000m in 1:06, sprinting the 600m in 38 sec.   Her To Eternity and a Pins filly worked in from the 600m in 39.7. Barossa Duke and Roger ran 1000m in 1:06, sprinting the 600m in 37 sec.    Harry and a Pins gelding ran 600m in 39.6.

Real Deal was timed from the 600m in 39.9.   Blackbird, was sent 1000m with stablemate She’s Flawless in 1:06 and 38 sec.  Both horses look good chances this weekend at Ellerslie.
