Track Work – Thursday, 27th September

Rio Nugget and Decorah completed their preparations for weekend racing in fine style at Cambridge this morning.

Working on a good plough Rio Nugget (Hutton) matched strides with Decorah (Orting) from the 1000m in 1:5.9, sprinting the 600m in 37.1. Rio Nugget, who has been working well in recent weeks, looks a good prospect for New Plymouth, while Decorah, who will be improved from her recent fresh up run, has the outside barrier draw to contend with in the Soliloquy Stakes at Ellerslie.

Veteran galloper Taking the Mickey (Douglas) looked bright when working over 800m in 53.9. Pellegrini (Du Plessis) and Twilight Granita (Orting), a leading contender for the Soliloquy Stakes, worked in strongly from the 1000m in 1:3.2, sprinting the last 600m in 36.9 with Pellegrini holding a slight advantage at the finish.
Venus Rising (Cully) and Little Jack (Hughes) worked in from the 600m in 38.3. Eddie the Eagle (Macfarlane) was given an easy task over 800m in 57.1. Handsome Mates (Cully) and Black Hennessy (Hughes) left a comfortable 800m behind in 56. Tilda (Browne) and a St Reims gelding (McVean) came to the end of 600m in 37.5. Sheez All Heart (Du Plessis), who is coming to hand well, completed 800m in 52.3, the last 600m in 37.6. Here to Eternity (Hutton) and Bewitching (German) sprinted 600m in 39.4.

Galloping on the sand Neo (German), who runs in the Bonecrusher Stakes on Saturday, and Great of Favours (Orting) were paired over 1000m in 1:7.4, the concluding 600m in 37.8. Ishma (Orting) ran 600m in 40. Captain Cat (German) and Misstar (Orting) were comfortable from the 1000m in 1:10 and 40 for the 600m.

Working on a good No.2 grass Lady Chaparral, with raceday rider Viktoria Gatu aboard, was in good form when running 1200m in 1:15, sprinting the 600m in 36.2. She races at New Plymouth this weekend.
