Victor Hugo endorsed his Te Rapa weekend prospects with encouraging work at Cambridge today
Galloping on the outside of a heavy No.3 Grass, Victor Hugo (Jago) returned 40.1 for 600m. The debut winner was under a good hold throughout and looks a strong chance of repeating his recent winning performance.
Stablemates, and Taumarunui Cup rivals, Pump Up The Volume (Sarah) and Wannabefamous (Macfarlane) were on terms throughout 1200m in 1:26, finishing off in 41.4. Ultra consistent mare Aaja Nachle (Ivil) was given an easy task over 600m in 43.1.
Last start winner Barbaric (McNab), looked at peak fitness for his weekend assignment, when coasting 600m in 43.6. Bob Valdez (Gatu) travelled well throughout 800m in 55. Chill Bill (Legg) and Gesemi (Jago) ran the concluding 600m of their work in 41.4.
Lady Saayida (Hills) did her weekend prospects no harm when running an easy 1200m in 1:27.2, finishing off in 43. Cornelius (Thornton) and So It Goes (Foote) were timed from the 600m in 41.3. Magna Carta (Logan) came to the end of 1000m in 1.10 and 41.3. Illumaniti (Foote) returned 41.4 for 600m. And Urban Rocker (Collins) followed with 1200m in 1:37 and 42 for the last 600m.
Little Alfie Brown (Satherley) worked comfortably over 1200m on the sand, quickening over the last 600m in 40.4.
