Track Work – Thursday, 3 May

Almon enhanced his chances for Te Rapa this weekend with an impressive workout at Cambridge this morning.   

Work was done on a good plough.   Almon (Webb) kept up a strong pace with stable mate Pintsized Punt (Harley) over 1200m in 1:17, sprinting the final 600m in 35.2.   He is a consistent gelding and should again run prominently.

Empathy (Hills), who brings solid form into his Te Rapa engagement, strode 1200m in 1:23.3, the last 600m in 38.4.  Springtime Fever (Macfarlane), who begins a fresh campaign at Te Rapa, worked nicely over 1000m in 1:7.9, the concluding 600m in 37.5. 

Wrecking Crew (Forbes) followed up impressive Tuesday work with a comfortable three quarter pace 1200m, the final 600m in 45.   Power Keeper (Berg), who makes his debut in the 1600m maiden at Te Rapa, worked well in company with Alt Controller (Ivil) over 1200m in 1:20, finishing off in 38.6.  Power Keeper was a recent trials winner at Te Teko.

Taking the Mickey (Donoghue) was in fine form over 1000m in 1:2.7, coming home in 36.6.  Burnsey’s Magic (Norvall) was clocked from the 600m in 36.6.  Joy (Dally) followed with 1200m, the last 600m in 36.8.

Soldier’s Leap (Collins) completed the last 600m of 1600m in 37.   Boomchukalucka (McShane), who looks close to a maiden win, was clocked from the 600m in 38.2.  Zebb (Webb) ran 600m in 38.8.   Oright Zen (McNab) ran an easy 600m in 42.  Le Monsieur (Dally), Shutout (McShane) and Felina (Macfarlane) worked in together from the 1200m in 1:19.5, the 600m in 37.1.   

Jeu de Cartes (Orting) ran the last 600m of 800m in 37.2.   Artemis (Cowie) came to the end of 1000m in 1:13, speeding up over the last 600m in 41.  Game Time (McShane) and Bella Zeel (Dally) matched strides from the 1000m in 1:9.1, finishing off in 40.   Popeye Dragon (Gillies) and the Golan – Mango Tree gelding (Collett) returned 1:8.6 for 1000m and 38.2.    

Blessed Thee (Cowie) strode 1000m with Altesino (McShane) in 1:12.8 and 37.4.  Bayross (Woods) left 1200m behind in 1:23, the last 600m in 42.  Walk the Tiger (Norvall) completed the last 600m of 800m in 41.9.  Cashmere (McShane) and No Second Prize (Dally) were paired over 800m in 53.3.  The Tidy Express (Macfarlane) cut out 1200m in 1:24.9,  coming home in 41.6.  Black Hennessy (Hills) and a Patapan gelding (Gatu) from Chris Wood’s stable, did well when sprinting 600m in 35.4.   Le Couguar (Barkla) and a Dylan Thomas gelding (Crawford) completed an encouraging 600m together in 36.6.
