Innovation and Pump up the Volume worked well together at Cambridge today in their final preparation for weekend racing

Galloping on the outside of a heavy No.2 Grass Innovation (Harris) and Pump Up The Volume (Cropp) left 1200m behind in 1:19.1, sprinting the final 600m in 38.3.   Innovation, held a slight advantage at the finish, looks in good order for the Challenge Stakes at Wanganui on Saturday.   Pump up the Volume heads for Ellerslie.

Oak Park (Bussey) looked fit for Saturday when galloping 1000m with Neo (Holmquist) in 1:6.9, finishing off in 39.7.   Both were travelling strongly at the line.

Dancer’s Tale (Orting), a top contender for Saturday’s Castletown Stakes at Wanganui, and Elusive Gold (Roustoby) were in good form over 1000m in 1:7.1 and 40.   Sophie Claire (Hughes) was let off with a comfortable 1200m in 1:31, the final 600m in 42.8.   Mistaar (Hutton) and Decorah (Orting) were paired over 1200m in 1:21, sprinting the final section in 38.6.   Mistaar was travelling slightly better at the finish.   They are race rivals this weekend.

Dark Bishop (Cleland) looked at peak fitness when covering 1000m in 1:10.3 and 41.8.   Bob Valdez (Gatu) and I’m Penny (medium weight) did well to return 50 for 800m.   Buckles (Smith) and Popeye Braggins (Marshall) worked in from the 600m in 39.3.   Best Command (Teixeiva) worked in nicely from the 600m in 39.7.  Ignition (Tiko) was clocked from the 600m in 39.3 and Mitchum (McGorrian) came to the end of 1200m in 1:22, the final 600m in 41.8.
