Taking the Mickey galloped well on a quiet morning’s work at Cambridge today in preparation for the open 1400m at Pukekohe this weekend.  Â
Working on the outside of a heavy No. 2 grass Taking the Mickey (Donoghue) was travelling comfortably throughout 1000m in 1:13.4, quickening from the 600m in 41. The veteran galloper looks in bright condition.
Spin My World (Dally) was given an easy task when completing 1000m in 1:13.6, coming home in 44.1. She’s Invincible (Cameron) handled the loose conditions well when sprinting 600m in 40. Margurita Time (Gatu) and a Keeninsky gelding (Hills) from the Chris Wood stable worked nicely together over 800m in 53.9, the 600m in 40.2.
Galloping on a firm sand Rio Nugget (German) ran 600m in 42.3. Thunderbird One (Roustoby) came to the end of 1200m in 1:22.2, the last 600m in 38.6. Touch Wind (Dally) was let off with a three-quarter pace 800m, the last 600m in 44.1. A Zed gelding (Orting) and an Iffraj gelding (Murphy) from the Baker-Forsman stable were on terms from the 1000m in 1:8, the last 600m in 40.2. Skimio (Norvall) cut out 600m in 39.4 and Future King (Dally), who looks set for a profitable spring campaign, was comfortable throughout 800m in 59.Â
