Multiple Group One winner Turn Me Loose pleased his connections with his exhibition gallop at Te Rapa yesterday.

Ridden by Matt Cameron, Turn Me Loosed worked with Barbaric (Danielle Johnson) and after travelling keenly in the early stages he relaxed better for his rider and went to the line holding a clear advantage over the Stephen Marsh-trained sprinter.

“That was very good,” said Turn Me Loose’s co-trainer Andrew Forsman. “He was a bit fresh and had a bit of a blow still going on afterwards.

“He’s booked on a plane on Sunday and will run in the Manikato Stakes fresh-up. Whether he has a jumpout or a trial beforehand we’ll decide when he gets to Aussie.”

Turn Me Loose has performed best in Melbourne and his connections hope he can turn around his Sydney failures.

“After Sydney and those two poor runs we couldn’t come up with a feasible excuse so he had a good, long spell and it’s done him good,” said Forsman.

“He’s looks to have matured finally. I’ve never seen him looking better.

“It’s going to be interesting to see when he gets over there (Melbourne) and against the 1200-metre horses.”
