Military Move on Parade in Cup

Military Move’s depths of stamina will be tested this weekend when he runs in the $A150,000 Queensland Cup at Eagle Farm. The former New Zealand Derby winner will tackle 3200 metres for the first time in a race the trainer’s brother already has on his CV.

“Craig won it with Solid Billing so it would be nice to get another one for the family,” Shaune Ritchie said.

“If Military Move is ever going to run out two miles it will be this campaign and if he does then we’ll know what to look at back home. Next season will definitely be his last.”

The Volksraad gelding has more than paid his way on his current trip with his victory in the $A100,000 Toowoomba Cup two starts back. Military Move was then unplaced in the Gr.3 Tatt’s Cup at Eagle Farm where the pace was against him.

“It was a very slowly run race and he had a big weight (58kg),” Ritchie said. “He’s loving it over here and he’s still enjoying his racing. He’s probably the soundest horse I’ve got.”
