President’s money back guarantee

Wow! The fields have once again exceeded expectations for the Cambridge Jockey Club’s popular racemeeting with a host of smart gallopers heading to Te Rapa on Saturday.

Local horses are well-represented, including Ruud Awakening and Miss Foxwood in the Gr. 3 $70,000 Cambridge Jockey Club Breeders’ Stakes, while Zonza and Zurella are among the runners in the day’s feature, the Gr. 2 Travis Stakes.

It promises to once again be a highlight on the racing calendar and for all you punters out there, it’s a day to make money.

Hopefully these tips will help fill your pockets – with money and not losing tickets.

The first race kicks off at 12.20pm so don’t be late. There are a few locals competing in the opening event for juveniles and Club President George Simon has a special interest – Turn Me Loose, a colt by Iffraaj in the stable of Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman.

“He’s the first horse I’ve bred,” said George. “He hasn’t been to any trials but apparently he goes gooood! Don’t tell anyone.”

As if that’s going to happen George. By the time you’ve told everyone not to tell anyone, the colt should end up starting favourite.

So folks, keep a close eye on Turn Me Loose. We know George will be. And if the colt streaks away for a win you can expect one Maori commentator to be doing just what the name says as the party spreads into the evening.

Don’t be surprised to see the old “Cuzzie” in action strumming away on the guitar and singing away between sips.

There are no guarantees in racing, but if you do back Turn Me Loose and he doesn’t win I’m sure George won’t mind you heading to the commentator’s box for a refund. As the Tui advert goes, “Yeah, right!”

Good luck on Saturday and keep an eye on the next-uppers. With fields like this, there are sure to be horses to follow.
