Stakes bid for She’s Invincible

The Listed $50,000 Rotorua Stakes on May 12 is the next stop for the talented Cambridge mare She’s Invincible.

The Elusive City four-year-old secured a start in the fillies and mares weight-for-age race 1400-metre race at Arawa Park when completing a double in the Laser Plumbing Te Puke 1200 at Tauranga yesterday.

“She can run at Rotorua now,” said trainer Gary Alton, who has a 100-percent strike rate with She’s Invincible since she joined his stable last month. “She’s a pretty smart mare and she deserves a crack at it.”

She’s Invincible was originally trained at Matamata by Andrew Scott, who prepared her for two wins and four placings from eight starts.

She was sent to
Alton because of unsoundness and has settled into her new surroundings particularly well. “She’s no problem at all,” said Alton. “It’s good to have a horse like her in the stable.”

She’s Invincible was bred Casey and Michelle Dando and the latter’s mother and the group are part of the syndicate which race her. And most were on hand for yesterday’s happy occasion.

She’s Invincible won the event by a short neck from the local galloper Jungle Joy, who tried hard on the inner, while Precision King stuck on for third.
