Track Work – Thursday, 21 June

Kiwifruit Cup candidate Hurricane Mickey looked ready to produce his best form when working on the outside of a heavy No.2 grass at Cambridge today.

Hurricane Mickey (Orting) came to the end of 1200m in 1:22, completing the final 600m in 41.9.   He races well at Tauranga and a likely heavy track should suit.

Last start winner Outofthewoods (M Cropp) and stablemate Son of Zoff (Harris), from the inform Ralph Manning stable, worked well together from the 2000m, running the last 1200m in 1:23.6 and the last 600m in 41.  Buckles (Donoghue), has derived benefit from a recent fresh up run, sprinted 600m in 40.9.   Northern General (Browne) was given a comfortable workout from the 1000m in 1:10, finishing off in 3.2.   Sandy Star (Hughes) and Lady Chaparral (Hills) were paired over 1000m in 1:9, the last 600m in 42.2.  Lady Chaparral started behind and made up ground in the home straight.

Platinum Passion (Jackson) was sent 1000m in 1:9.8, the final section in 41.   Le Moussier (Calder) travelled comfortably throughout 1200m in 1:24.9 and 42.7.    Dan’s Best (Norvall) followed in 1:26 and 43.1.   Snave (Emma) and Virgin Islands (Orting) came in from the 600m in 42.6.   Artemis (Collins) was sent 1400m at three quarter pace.   Old Drumble (Cropp) looked fit for the Kiwifruit Cup when completing the last 1200m of his work in 1:22.8, the last 600m in 49.6.   Jack Run (Calder) completed 600m in 44.  Blue Nile (German) was clocked from the 600m in 42.2.

Working on the sand Ishma (Orting), who begins a fresh campaign at Gate Pa, was given an easy work out over 1000m in 1:16, the final 600m in 44.   Swami (Paterson) and Thunderbird One (Murphy) sprinted 600m in 38.4.   Mr Rimfire (German) and Not So Fallible (Murphy) were paired over 600m in 39.1.   Captain Cat (German) ran 800m in 52.
