Track Work – Thursday, 23 February

In form mare Lady Kipling completed her preparation for the Goup 1 Haunui Classic when galloping on a dead No.1 grass at Cambridge today.

Lady Kipling (Orting) was kept under a firm hold throughout 1000m, run in 1:9, the last 600m in 38.4.  She has thrived since winning last Saturday at Ellerslie.  Race rival Veyron (Hills) pleased his trainer Linda Laing when completing 1000m on Wednesday morning in 1:6.6, sprinting the last 600m in 36.4.

Ockham’s Razor (Stewart), who has to contend with another wide barrier draw at Matamata worked nicely in from the 600m in 38.8.  Barney (Tiko) came to the end of 1400m in 1:35.2, the 1000m in 1:6.5 and the final 600m in 39.  Six O’Clock News (Young) was sent 1200m at three quarter pace, quickening over the last 600m in 38.3.

Working on the No.2 grass, with the markers out 12 metres Pellegrini (German) looked ready for a bold fresh up run at Otaki, when sprinting 600m in 36.  Bob Valdez (Woods) came to the end of 1400m in 1:33.5, finishing off in 37.1.  Passilente (Roustoby) and Blue Nile (Houston) looked fit for their weekend engagements, when matching strides from the 1200m in 1:19, the concluding 600m in 37.  Precision King (O’Connor) followed with 600m in 37.4.  Taking the Mickey (Donoghue) returned 1:6.5 for 1000m, the 600m in 37.4.  Nancho Bella (Brennan) sprinted 600m in 36.4.

A  Keeper gelding (Vance) from the McNab stable, returned 1:11 for an easy 1000m, coming home in 42.2 and a Starcraft gelding (M Brennan) and an Exceed and Excel gelding (L. Brennan) impressed when sprinting 800m in 48.7.

Track tip   -   Pellegrini (Otaki)  -  has been working well after a short spell   –  should take some beating

Outsider   -    Bob Valdez.
