Track Work – Thursday, 24 May 2012

Stablemates Oak Park and Blue Nile rounded off their preparations for weekend racing in fine style when fog prevented the timing of all gallops.

Galloping on a heavy No.3 grass Oak Park (Orting) and Blue Nile (German) were on terms at the completion of 1000m. Both were travelling nicely at the finish. Oak Park has thrived since winning recently. She is racing at Trentham on Saturday. Blue Nile runs at Ellerslie and looks at peak fitness.

Twilight Granita (Roustoby) and Watch King (Orting), who are race rivals in the Great Northern Foal Stakes, were travelling sweetly at the completion of 1000m. Race rival Domineer (Anna) followed up smart Tuesday work with a comfortable hit out over 800m. Anna Maria (Carter), who looks fit for Saturday, was sent 600m at an easy pace. Excellent Reward (Brennan), who went under by a narrow margin at his last start, was given a three quarter pace 1000m, quickening over the last 600m. Working on a firm sand Khemosabi (Frank), who begins a fresh campaign this weekend, hit out well from the 1000m.

Lucy in Disguise (Tiko), who should continue her consistent form this weekend, looked comfortable at the end of her 1000m. St Chalan (Stam) worked over two rounds quietly prior to sprinting 600m. Stablemate Star of Reims (Stam) was given a similar task. Other weekend runners to gallop included Aspinal (Donoghue) who ran 600m at three quarter pace. Hurricane Mickey (Roustoby) and Snave (German) who were sent 1000m, and She’s Invincible (Cameron), who also completed 1000m nicely. She failed to handle the heavy track conditions at Rotorua at her last start. She should be a top prospect this weekend.

Best bet and track tip: Blue Nile – worked well this week.

Outsider Domineer.
