Track Work – Thursday, 6th September 2012

Pump Up The Volume completed his preparation for Saturday’s Coca Cola 2100 at Ellerslie this weekend with a stylish workout at Cambridge today.   

Galloping on the inside of a slow No.2 grass, which was conducive to fast times, Pump Up The Volume (Macfarlane) was sent 2000m, the final 1200m in 1:18.1, sprinting the last 600m in 37.  He was under a firm hold throughout the gallop.

Decorah (Hutton), who begins a fresh campaign in the listed three year old fillies race at Wanganui sprinted 600m in 35.8.   Sand’ior (Woods) did her Ellerslie prospects no harm when completing 600m in 36.4.  Taking the Mickey (Donoghue) and Feel One (Ormsby) worked in nicely from the 1000m in 1:2.7, the 600m in 35.8.

Twilight Granita (Orting) worked in from the 800m in 49.7.   Lady Chaparral (Gatu), who ran the race of an improver at her most recent start, worked well alongside stablemate Master Power (Hughes) over 1000m in 1:2.4 and 35.6.  Worthing (Cameron) followed with 1000m in 1:2.8 and 35.4.

Pellegrini (German) was in outstanding form over 1000m in 1:1.8, sprinting the last 600m in 34.7.   Northern General (Forbes) and Miss Nimo (Browne) came to the end of 600m in 35.5.  A Keeper gelding (Brennan) worked well over 800m in 46.6.

Galloping on the No.4 grass Carrick (Donoghue) looked set to run a bold race fresh up at Ellerslie, when working over 800m in 52.7.  Silent Achiever (Dally) looked bright when running 600m in 39.9.

Galloping on a good sand Roll Out The Carpet (Du Plessis) and Tilda (Forbes) were paired over 800m in 54.  Veyron (Norvall) was given a comfortable task over 1000m in 1:16, finishing off in 43. Jack’s Run (Macfarlane) left 600m behind in 40.7.   Khaleesi (Orting) was clocked from the 600m in 40.3.  Full of Spirit (Macfarlane) followed with similar work.  How Good Was That (Dally), Groovy Baby (Calder) and the Gallant Guru-Blessed Be (Collins) worked in from the 1000m in 1:9, finishing off in 40.8 and No Second Prize (Cowie) and Selander (Collins) sprinted 600m in 39.3.
