Track Work – Thursday, 8 December 2011

Waikato Times Gold Cup aspirant Prairie Star enhanced her chances for Saturday’s Te Rapa feature when returning excellent work at Cambridge today.  Working on the outside of a good No.1 grass Prairie Star (Tiko) was full of running at the completion of 1400m in 1:27.5, sprinting the final 600m in 36.5.   She is at peak fitness but will need to overcome an outside barrier draw.

Lady Chaparral (Murray), favoured for the Cal Isuzu Stakes, did well when sprinting 600m in 35.9.   Last Picasso (Tiko) and Barney (Cropp) matched strides from the 1400m in 1:32.1, coming home in 37.8.

Galloping on a firm plough Te Rapa candidates Lady Kipling (Orting) and Selador (H Orting) were paired over 800m in a comfortable 53.6.  The stable mates, both last start winners, should again run prominently this weekend.   Mr Tipsy (Norvall), another Waikato Times Gold Cup prospect matched strides with Malandrino (Emma) from the 1200m in 1:21.2, the final section in 37.5.

Tivoli (Woods) ran 600m in 37.3.  Tick Toc Arnie (Hills) followed with 600m in 37.2.   Zonza (Dally) left the 1400m mark at three quarter pace and quickened over the last 600m in 37.1.

Twilight Savings (Orting) was timed from the 600m in 37.8.   Rosita (McFarlane) was given an easy 1000m in 1:10.7 and 38.4.  The Keeper – I’ll Think About It filly (Houston) came in from the 600m in 40.  Perfectly Free (Ormsby) and Matilda (Brown) were untroubled to run 1000m in 1:10.9 and 38.7 and Precision King (Houston) left 1000m behind in 1:9, the last 600m in 38.3.

Working on the sand Holy Moly (McFarlane) strode 1000m in 1:11.2, finishing off in 43.8.
