Track Work 19 March 2019

Lightly raced 5yo Mare MOCCASIN, for in form trainer Ross McCarroll, produced an excellent piece of work on a dead/slow course proper this morning.

Timed over 1200, MOCCASIN went a brisk 1.19, keeping up a strong gallop through the line to round off her final 600 in 37.6. She’ll likely head to Tauranga this Saturday, at a course which McCarroll trained horses always seem to enjoy.

MAGNUM, also on the course proper, was timed over 1000 in 1.08, home in 38.2. He looks in good order and will potentially head to Awapuni next weekend to contest the 1400m flying handicap.

On the plough, Baker/Forsman trio NICOLETTA, HINERANGI and TRUE ENOUGH caught the eye with an impressive gallop. Sent 1400, they started off at an even tempo before quickening nicely to round it off in a stylish 36.8. They’re all at different stages of their preps but all seem ready to run big races.

Another that caught the eye was recent Group 1 contestant VIN DE DANCE. He completed 1600 in 1.47, rounding off in 37.4.

LADYNADEL went alone also, and skipped along in a tidy 1.07, 37.1.

TRIPLE DIAMOND and INDAH followed in 52.5 for 800.

SAINT EMILION went with AMBITIOUS WINNER over 1000 in 1.09, home in 38.3. Although slightly disappointing last start, AMBITIOUS WINNER has been working well the last few weeks and should be a chance when lining up at her next start.

The Stephen Marsh trained RITANI was timed over 1000 in 1.09, and 39.

CORNISH POINT for the James/Wellwood partnership was timed from the 1200 in 1.21.

Stable mate ZEALAND wasn’t asked for time when completing 600 in 46.

Promising two year old’s ARETHA, CHECKERS and ENJOY THE SHOW went 800 in 51.2, home in 37.6. ARETHA went a huge race in the Group 1 Sistema Stakes at Ellerslie, and with any give in the track looks a major player wherever she lines up next.

THE HEIRESS and GRAND RIO matched strides over 800 in 53.8.

SPRING DELIGHT had ARTISTE for company over 1000 in 1.06, keeping up to the mark for the duration, home in 38.2.

LORD ARTHUR, off the back of a last start 3rd and seems to be on the improve all the time, again went a nice gallop. Working alone he cut out 1000 in 1.09, finishing off in 38.2. He remains a horse to follow.

WESTERN GIRL and CARIBBEAN ROSE, both off the back of very tidy last starts, went 1000, last 600 in 37.2. CARIBBEAN ROSE will be out to break maiden company next time to the races and looks ready to do so.

LOVE ME TENDER went 1000 in 1.08.

CHARLI ROSE went with LONG JACK in 43.1 over 600.

PEACEFUL went 800 in 52.7.

ZACADA zipped along over 1600 in 1.45, home in 39.
