With many horses taking part in the local trials meeting yesterday, it was a quiet session today.

The Ross McCarroll trained gelding RUIZ returned outstanding work when preparing for Ellerslie this weekend.

Galloping on the inside of a dead No.2 grass, RUIZ travelled freely from the 1000m, run in 59.9, dashing the last 600m in 34.8.

Stablemate AILEEN GRACE was no less impressive when she left the 1000m behind in 1:1, sprinting in from the 600m in 34.9.

SORRENTINA looked fit for weekend racing, cutting out 1000m in 1:5, finishing off in 38.1.

SANTA CATARINA was clocked from the 600m in 82.2. PACORUS, who ran an encouraging second last start, maintained a solid pace over 1400m in 1:34.9, sprinting the concluding 600m in 36.3.

WOODEN EDGE returned nice work over 1200m in 1:15.1, finishing off in 36.4. DEEP FIELD|OUR RIESLING and XCELEBRATION|BANDOLERA completed 1000m together in 1:8.5, the 600m in 37.3.

AMASTAR came in from the 1000m in 1:7 and 39.5. QUIZZY LIZZY was given an easy task over 1000m in 1:13.2, home in 44. MOLTO VELOCE was timed from the 600m in 39.9.

PIERINA came to the end of 1000m in 1:5, the last 600m in 38.

On the plough ELLE EYE ARE strode nicely from the 1200m in 1:22.7, the final 600m in 39.2.

SHE’S A LADY and CHECKERS matched strides over 1200m in 1:23.1 and 39. LUCETTA ran 1400m in 1:38.2, the last 600m in 40.1.

GOOD LUCK CHARM was sent 900m, coming in from the 600m in 41.3.

ZACADA looked in good order for Ellerslie this weekend when traveling sweetly over 1400m in 1:33.2, home in 39 on the No.1 grass.
